Born to a human sorcerer Cybil and an elven ranger Navain, of the house Dwinanea, Astrid came into the world in a village located in the woods Cormanthor, not too far from Shadowdale. Her parents consulted a local Druid for prophetic insight to their child's fate, a few months before she was expected to be born. The Druid surprised them with more than just what gender their baby was to be.
"She is fated to a life of darkness; her soul belongs to the night. Do not despair, for this is no curse; there are those who peer through the night to see the stars. This is her destiny."
They stilled. They trembled. They thought of their house name, Dwinanea. Walkers of the Night.
When their baby emerged on [birthdate], night was fading at the caress of Pelor's guiding hand across the sky. Her mother laid her head back on the pillow and gazed tiredly out the window, eyes falling on the last glimmering star in the sky.
Malleah was the name they had chosen for their daughter. When Navain peered out the window at what caught his wife's eye, holding their newborn close to his chest, he whispered at the sight. "Astrid."
"Yes," Cybil's voice trembled joyously. "She is Astrid." In the deepest of dark skies, their child would be the star to outshine all others.
